Samsung Unveils Exynos 2600 - Mobile Chips Enter the 2nm Era!

    12/24/2025 1:28:08 AM

On December 19, 2025, South Korea's Samsung Electronics officially released the 2nm chip - Exynos 2600, which is the world's first 2nm process smartphone application processor.

Exynos 2600 adopts the latest Arm architecture Deca-core design and supports new instruction sets to enhance CPU speed and edge AI capabilities. Its specific configuration is: 1 flagship C1 Ultra core with a main frequency of up to 3.8GHz, 3 high-performance C1 Pro cores with a main frequency of 3.25GHz, and 6 high-performance C1 Pro cores with a main frequency of 2.75GHz. Compared with Exynos 2500, the overall CPU performance of Exynos 2600 has increased by 39%, and the overall AI performance has also jumped by 113%.

In terms of graphics performance, Exynos 2600 integrates a brand-new Xclipse 960 GPU. It is said that its computing performance has increased by 2 times compared to the previous generation, and the ray tracing performance in games has improved by approximately 50%. At the same time, the new ISP has also made significant progress in power consumption control, with power consumption reduced by approximately 50% compared to the ISP of Exynos 2500.
Previously, Exynos chips were criticized for overheating and performance reduction. To solve this problem, Samsung adopted a new thermal bypass technology (HPB). This technology improves heat dissipation efficiency by using high dielectric constant electromagnetic compatibility materials, reducing the thermal resistance by 16%, enabling Exynos 2600 to maintain high-performance output even under heavy loads.

According to a South Korean media report, when the project started last year, the yield rate of Samsung's 2nm process was only around 10% to 20%. After a year of research and efforts, in November this year, the yield rate of Samsung's 2nm reached 55% to 60%. Now, Samsung Electronics has marked the product status of Exynos 2600 as in mass production on its official website. This trend may indicate that its yield rate has improved and stabilized to a level sufficient to support large-scale production.
It is widely expected that Apple will also start using TSMC's 2nm process for multiple devices in 2026. It is reported that Apple has obtained a portion of TSMC's first batch of 2nm production capacity, and the A20 and A20 Pro chips in the iPhone 18 series are expected to be the first Apple processors based on TSMC's 2nm process.
Apart from iPhones, the M6 series chips of future Mac computers are also expected to switch to the 2nm process. However, there is no confirmed official information yet.
